FUNCTION

Counts pulses and displays a number from 0-99.

  • Counts low-to-high pulses on the Clock (CK) input, onto 7-segment displays
  • Has 3 control inputs
  • Inputs and outputs aligned so displays can be cascaded

NOTES

  • When each digit reaches "9", the Carry output goes low. This enables the next counter to increment on the next clock pulse
  • All counters increment at the same time so all the clocks are connected - this is called SYNCHRONOUS counting.
  • An unlimited number of displays can be cascaded easily by connecting outputs to next stage inputs.
  • It can count up to a speed of 2 MHz with a 5v supply.
