THE EZ-CPU CONTROL SYSTEM

Welcome to the EZ-CPU page. The EZ-CPU has been specially developed to teach low level language programming to A-level and degree students. It emulates the 8088 16 bit processor and the very powerful Z80 8 bit processor. There are free teaching resources available and more being developed all the time.

8-bit CONTROLLER FOR STUDENTS - DESIGNED BY TEACHERS FOR TEACHERS!

The EZCPU is a fully functional 8-bit emulator designed to teach A-level and University students to write instruction code for 8088 (32 instruction) and Z80 (500 instruction) processors.
The EZCPU system has been
designed by teachers, for teachers, to assist in delivery of AQA & OCR Electronics and other syllabus. Tried and tested with students with outstanding success, pupils quickly learn to write control programs and routines.

SUPPORT
Purchase of any EDUTEK product qualifies you for free support on-line and advice concerning delivery of the syllabus and use of products purchased. Also free advice on circuit design and fault finding for teachers and students.

The EZ-CPU enables control over a variety of applications. Connection to input and output buses uses 4mm sockets and 10 way headers for the expansion modules, which allow for almost any control application and satisfy the requirements of the OCR CONTROL SYLLABUS
There are a range of free worksheets, example flowcharts and notes for teachers and students.

PROJECTS & APPLICATIONS
A wide range of control projects and applications can be made by adding expansion modules. For example using the 8-bit DAC module, students can create digital waveforms and sound generators.

There are some programs and examples covering most aspects of the module available on the EZ-CPU resource page.

The EZ-CPU has a serial connection allowing students to upload their work to a PC for printing and assessment. Download exemplar routines into boards for demonstartions and set tasks.

Download PC software now - V2.0 - (1.6MB zip)

Unzip the file EZCPUFM200.zip onto the desktop. Open the folder and double-click Setup.exe

EXPANSION MODULES
SINGLE DIGIT DISPLAY
A single digit 7 segment display with direct connection to segments and decimal point.

Projects: Dice, simple letters.

Code: QSDD

2-DIGIT 7 SEGMENT DISPLAY.
This has 2 BCD inputs and 1" green displays.

Projects: Random number generator, counter/timer.

Code: Q2DD

4 DIGIT LATCHED DISPLAY
This latching 4 digit display has a common BCD input and latching inputs to each digit.

Projects: Timer/counter, digital clock, visual effects, games, measurement.

STEPPER MOTOR/DRIVER MODULE

A driver module for bi-polar stepper motors. Also can be used to drive individual outputs up to 500mA.

Projects: Puppet controller, solar tracker, clock.

8 BIT DIGITAL-TO-ANALOGUE CONVERTER
This features AC/DC operation and a resolution of 10mV per step.

Projects: Digital Waveform Generator, Light dimmer

4-WAY RELAY SWITCH
A 4 way relay switch capable of switching currents up to 3 Amps. Not recommended for mains use.

7/8-BIT ANALOGUE-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER

An ADC with either 8-bit or 7-bit + strobe operation.

Projects: Voltmeter, sound meter, measurement, sampling.
