HANDHELD SIMON GAME

INTRODUCTION
This is a quick project that needs no case. A 3xAA/AAA battery pack can be attached under the PCB keeping it hand held.

This project is another version of the famous Simon Says game. There are 2 other versions on this site:

It has the same rules, where a sequence has to be followed that get progressively longer. The four buttons choose the colour during game and provide start, last, best and mute functions when not playing.

CIRCUIT DETAILS
The circuit is based around a PIC micro-controller 12F629, a very versatile chip. The I/O pins 1,2,6 and 7 are mainly outputs, but are changed to inputs about 50 times a second to read the buttons. The inputs have pull-ups internally and when pin 4 is driven low, any low signal on the input pins is taken as a button press. Pin 5 provides sound for a piezo transducer to produce the different pitches for each colour. Diodes 1-4 are needed to prevent buttons if pressed affecting the display when not being monitored.

PCB DETAILS
The circuit board is an octagonal shape. You can sand the corner to round them to prevent any corners digging into ones hand.

Functions are as follow:

SW1 = Red, Start
SW2 = Blue, Last
SW3 = Yellow, Best
SW4 = Green, Mute

It is harder to play without the sound it but may ease the tensions of other people in the room listening to you play
