FUNCTION

Counts pulses and displays a number.

  • Counts low-to-high pulses on the Clock (CK) input, onto a 7-segment display
  • Has 2 control inputs
  • Extra stages can be added.

    Assembly Instructions

    NOTES

    • When the counter reaches "9", the Carry output goes low, then returns high whem the counter rolls over to "0". This output should be connected to the Clock input of the next counter if more digits are needed. This method of cascading is called ASYNCHRONOUS.
    • It can count up to a speed of 2 MHz with a 5v supply.
